LOL, okay I’ll apologize for such a pun of a title. It’s horrible. I could’ve changed it, but I’ve decided to keep the cheesiness of it. So, Sorry not sorry, I guess? With that being said, this week’s MCM features my top 10 orange-haired men.
10. Robato Hatohara (Robot X Laserbeam)
The newest character to add to my ever-growing obsession with sports anime. Robato hails from the new manga Robot X Laserbeam, a manga about Golf, from the mangaka Tadatoshi Fujimaki, the creator of my beloved Kuroko no Basket. Robato’s nickname is “Robo-Kun” as he is expressionless, straight-faced, and completely honest (very much like Kuroko). His classmates basically see him as a robot due to all of his mannerisms. Also, he’s a megane!! Who doesn’t love meganes! ❤
9. Yuzuru Otonashi (Angel Beats)
Angel Beats to me is an underrated anime. I watched this one on a whim, and while there are some odd plot holes that don’t make sense; I was shocked at how beautiful the music was and the exploration of the death of each of these characters that are stuck in limbo. At first Yuzuru didn’t appeal to me, but I definitely liked him by the end of the series. His last scene had be bawling like a baby. The scene was touching yet really heartbreaking. That alone was what landed him on this list.
8. Chuuya Nakahara (Bungo Stray Dogs)
Chuuya serves the Port Mafia and is Dazai’s ex-partner in crime in the manga and anime Bungou Stray Dogs. The dynamic between the two is really interesting and I wish I knew more about it. However, when they were shown collaborating with one another it was easy to see why they were an unbeatable duo. His power, “for the tainted sorrow” allows him to manipulate gravity to whatever he touches. However, his true power is called “Corruption” and is only activated by the phrase,”oh grantors of dark disgrace, do not wake me again.” This true ability allows him to manipulate gravitons in the surrounding creating small black holes; his powers can be incredibly dangerous in this form; which is why he had been paired with Dazai as he could deactivate this power with a single touch before Chuuya exhausts himself to the point of death as he has no control over his true form.
7. Loke (Fairy Tail)
Ah, Loke. Loke threw me for a loop in the beginning of fairy tail. I didn’t like his playboy attitude. But when he finally made it back to the celestial world he became a lot more likeable and actually more attractive (I mean he wears a suit). Loke’s true identity is actually Leo of the celestial spirits. He had been banned from the celestial spirit world because he had violated their contracted which led to his master’s death. To be fair, he had only violated his contract because his Master had been physically abusing the celestial spirits and weren’t treating them with respect. Loke refused to go back to the spirit world until his master would agree to release him and other spirits from their contracts. With him roaming the human world she did not have enough power to summon another celestial spirit, and despite her tricks and begging for Loke to cooperate Loke would not budge, leading her to take a job in which she tried to fight without support which resulted in her death. Loke’s banishment caused him to belief he was in the wrong and made him feel guilty for a really long time – until he met Lucy.
6./5. Hitachiin Twins: Kaoru and Hikaru (Ouran High School Host Club)
No list would be complete without someone from the classic Ouran High School Host Club. The twins were a great counter-part to Tamaki as they knew how to push his buttons while also serving as another love interest for Haruhi (well at least for Kaoru). To be honest, I have a hard time telling between the two – which is why they’ve landed positions in the middle of the pack. Their hair color is actually auburn – a reddish-brown; however I think their hair color appears to be more orange in the anime.
4.Gildarts Clive (Fairy Tail)
One of the few adults that are apart of the Fairy Tail guild. He’s not around much, but when he is he’s definitely a scene stealer. I mean, look at him! He’s also the father of Cana Alberona who is also a part of the fairy tail guild often seen as the resident drinker in the guild, as she can hold her liquor better than most of the guys. He’s a bit of an awkward Father figure and they have a bit of a strained relationship as his deceased wife had left him without telling him of their child. He’s pretty much a lone wolf as he ventures out a lot on his own for long periods of time.
3. Momotarou Mikoshiba (Free! Eternal Summer)
Of the Mikoshiba brothers, I love the child-like quality that Momo possesses. He’s another happy-go-lucky type, and He’s very much like his brother in terms of loud personality, attitude towards swimming and of course, their love for cute girls – especially Gou. I find Momo to be more endearing than his brother because he’s shown to be much more silly in trying to getting Gou’s attention.
2. Shusei Kagari (Psycho-Pass)
What happens to Kagari in Season 1 has seriously left me with no words. I’ll never get over it. Of all the character’s in Psycho-pass why Kagari! The epitome of being at the wrong place at the wrong time, the cast will never know what happened to their colleague, and I for one wanted to flip a table over it. Kagari was the jokester of the group, a source of happiness in the bleak world of the dystopic Tokyo. He was an easy-going character and is a lover of video games. Kagari was labled a “latent criminal” at the age of 5 with no chance of rehabilitation. This caused him to hate the SIBYL system, and dislike people that take their freedom for granted (i.e. Tsunemori – she could’ve gone anywhere but she chose the MWPSB which to him was a waste).
1. Shoyo Hinata (Haikyuu!!)
Hina leads the pack of orange haired men! This little ball of sunshine always manages to put a smile on my face. The little giant packs a lot of personality in his small little body. Always brimming with excitement for the sport, and always looking for the positivity in the situation and tries not to let people’s views of other’s affect his own (i.e Tsukishima and Kageyama’s first encounter). His determination, strength and happy-go-lucky attitude is what landed him the number one spot. When you see Hinata work hard at bettering himself, you can’t help but be inspired by his tenacity to never give up.
