Top 8 Silver (Grey) Foxes

Welcome back to another eye-candy filled MCM to kick off your week! Last week I featured some white-haired men; this weeks goes a few shades darker in featuring my top 10 Silver/Gray haired men. Silver and Gray hair often denotes a type of distinguished, almost sophisticated appeal to a guy. While this may ring true for many of these characters, more often than not – it doesn’t apply!

8. Shogo Haizaki & Chihiro Mayuzumi (Kuroko no Basket)

This list wouldn’t have been complete without a KnB character making an appearance. There are two men in this anime with grey hair. I had a hard time choosing so I decided to leave them in a tie. Haizaki is Kise’s counterpart on the show. Yes, we all know my love for Kise (see my twitter) is undeniable, so why would I pick his arch-enemy to be on the list? He’s the ultimate bad boy on KnB, actually he’s probably the worst guy on KnB, forget being of the bad boy type, he’s a total jerk! He slaps around his teammates and is the most selfish player on the court. He feels entitled because he’s talented; therefore representing everything that KnB does not promote. But still I’d choose Haizaki over Mayuzumi if I really had to. Unfortunately Mayuzumi is just a pawn to Akashi’s plan to win (see my red haired list – he’s number 1) and is easily cast aside when he’s no longer useful.

7.  Zero Kiryu (Vampire Knight)

Zero was probably my favorite character from Vampire Knight. I always felt Yuki didn’t deserve his undying devotion and kind of still do even though I’ve only seen season 1, and know that the relationship is actually much more complicated that it is shown to be. He’s the strong silent type that’s had to deal with a lot of traumatic experiences as a child.

6. Undertaker (Black Butler)

C8DB6A2E-0165-43FE-9025-F18DBD08DDEA-1791-00000342D732779DThe undertaker is quite the intriguing character of mystery on Black Butler. Often found giggling creepily and trying to freak out the guests in his shop. Undertaker is well connected to all kinds of information which also allows him to be some kind of information broker and is willing to sell information for a good laugh as he does not take  currency. He once was a grim reaper, but soon grew bored by the repetitive work which caused him to tamper with human life and eventually retire and open up his funeral parlor shop.

5. Adolf Weismann (K: Project)

I featured Weismann’s counterpart last week in Yashiro Isana as they are one in the same. In a number of complicated events, the Silver King (Weismann) had his body taken over by the Colorless King. Once he had been forced out of his own body, he fell to earth and landed in Yashrio’s body. The Silver King has very sophisticated mannerisms close to those of a nobleman, and his speech/tone is also reflective of that. The Silver King would rank second on my list, next to Reisi Munakata, the Blue King.

4. Sugawara Koushi (Haikyuu!!)

Sugawara, the mom of the Karasuno team. Of course this list wouldn’t be complete without a few sports anime characters right? He’s the sweet good natured senpai of the group and also lovingly nicknamed “Mr. Refreshing” by Oikawa. I featured Sugawara in the first ever Nendoroid Nonsense found here. I’ve been lagging on that particular segment, but hope to get back to it soon! He’s a great reliable character on the show, that has sacrificed his role of setter to the likes of the king of the court Kageyama. Initially he felt like he was running away from the starter position due to Kageyama’s talent, but realized he has his own strengths that are different and help the team out in his own way.

3. Kikuhiko/Yakumo 8th Generation (Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu)

Probably the most sophisticated character on this list, aside from Weismann. I absolutely adore this character. His character is such a blast to watch in Rakugo. He’s a pretty stoic character who often borders the line of mean and cynical. He’s rather straightforward, but he’s exceptionally clever in his craft. He struggled a lot with his performance, but in the end he was able to find his own way of performing rakugo that fulfilled him and his need to perform extremely well with crowds. He is indeed one of those few beautiful characters I love so much!

2. Viktor Nikiforov (Yuri!! On Ice)

Viktor! What can I say about this beautiful man. There are very few men I’ve seen in anime that I’d consider beautiful. But the moment Viktor stepped on ice int he first episode I was enthralled by his character. I’ve written about him a few times on the blog, but I’ll quote what I wrote about Viktor: “The beauty and elegance that was translated in Viktor’s performance in a two-dimensional medium was mind blowingly realistic. The lines and extensions that his body language created was exceptionally beautiful and very reminiscient of a ballerina. Viktor’s character exudes this elegant gracefulness on and off the ice even in his casual everyday body language.” Don’t forget that I’ve also had a feature on Viktor for an OWLS blog tour found here.

1. Kotarou Bokuto (Haikyuu!!)

671F56C4-26DE-46C4-866A-8CFA83B9EA79-1791-0000034AAEFA8F57.png

The epitome of not sophisticated. Bokuto is a silly owl whose mood can change at the drop of a dime. He’s infamous for being emo when he doesn’t get his way, and unfortunately that affects his performance. But he’s Fukurodani’s reliable captain, and one of the best aces of Japan; well he may not be top 3, but he’s definitely top 5. His silliness and obnoxious personality in the end won me over; can’t deny the comic relief that he provides!

That wraps up this weeks MCM! Was there someone on the list that you think I may have missed? I’d love to see who your favorite silver foxes would be in the comments below!

  1. So, obviously Zero is a great character, and watching a clip of Vic voicing him on YouTube is what drew me into Vampire Knight. Season 2 is so~ great when you get into it; clearly I would like it, though, as it’s my kind of show and it’s from whence my cosplay is derived! 🙂
Undertaker~!! How up on Black Butler are you at the moment? Do you read the manga?? I’ve not been able to get my hands on the latest volumes, but when I buy them I know I’ll be in for some interesting information if the online accidental spoilers are to be believed!!
And lastly, Victor. I don’t even need to say anything.

    Great list! (^^)

    1. Yes! I totally for about about Zero till I started compiling a list for this post!!

As for Black Butler, I don’t follow the manga at all unfortunately. I had mostly stuck to the anime, and stopped at Book of Circus! Undertaker was one of my faves just because he’s so quirky! 🙂

Yep, Victor…no words necessary for this beautiful soul. <3<3
