I’m going to do something a bit different here. I won’t just link anime related posts. I’m opening this up to gaming, architecture, art, anything I’ve found worthwhile on the internet! (I’ve crossed our architecture and art as I’m creating a new series on this subject matter since they’re not anime-related)

OWLS POSTS:

We are a group of otaku bloggers who promotes acceptance of all individuals regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion and disability. We emphasize the importance of respect, kindness, and tolerance to every human being.

Our April tour looked at the theme of “Strength”The prompt is as follows:

“Your greatest weakness can become your greatest strength.”

In anime, characters struggle with inner demons or physical weaknesses that make them feel insecure and prevent them from achieving goals. Yet when these characters overcome their adversity, they can finally be able to express who they are or in other words, “Free to be Me.”

For this tour, we will be exploring anime characters that have overcome adversity due to a personal insecurity or physical weakness. It is these type of characters that many anime fans may identify as role models because fans are able to feel empathetic towards these characters’ struggles and insecurities.

Here’s a list of this month’s posts:

This section needs a bit of a facelift, but I’ll get around to it at some point. But so far! These are the releases for this week:

Going to Skip this section for this Post. There are just WAYY too many to be posting for the past month – and I’m contemplating if I want to break this one out into it’s own thing as well!

You can pre-order them either on goodsmile or otakumode.

These just released the last week, so I think there’s about a month left for pre-orders before they close! So if they are of any interest to you I suggest you get them while you can! 😀

[Take Two!] April 16-22

Hey guys! Welcome back to this week’s Take Two! I’ll be re-capping and sharing some new stuff! So, let’s get to it!

IN-CASE-YOU-MISSED-IT.png

I…didn’t write much last week. I’m gonna blame that on Persona 5….lol…but last week’s posts included:

  • OP: No Need For Promises | Check-in Time!: I finished up Vision of Escaflowne a few days ago. So I remember posting this OP because I knew I would be finishing up the series! Expect some sort of review/collab on it some time soon.
  • [OWLS Blog Tour]: Fetishization of the “Rose Bride” and Asian Women: This took majority of my energy for blogging. It was a heavy topic I wanted to discuss but it was well worth it! I examine Asian stereotypes and the parallel of mail order brides in my analysis of Anthy in Revolutionary Girl Utena.
  • Top 10 Chocolate Haired Men : I countdown my favorite bishies that are of the chocolaty brown spectrum of the colors.
  • Townsperson B: Hitoka Yachi: Last week’s WCW was a bit on the more light hearted side, since my analysis of Anthy was heavy in content a few days earlier. I was going to do another character analysis of Hitoka, but realized that her character is someone we’ve all been at one point in our lives. So I list out 5 life lessons presented in the introduction of Hitoka’s character in Haikyuu!!

I’m going to do something a bit different here. I won’t just link anime related posts. I’m opening this up to gaming, architecture, art, anything I’ve found worthwhile on the internet!

  • Spring 2017 Anime First Impressions – Fresh Hot Fantasy Series for $5: Scott’s First Impressions are pretty much like my own, since we’re both watching a few of the same series.
  • Manga Challenge 2017: Andrealinia post that they were going to start up the Manga Challenge. I’ve seen the concept on MAL, and used to try to complete the Anime Challenge as a personal challenge, but they changed up the concept with Bingo Cards this year. Take a look!
  • [Full Game Review] English Otome- Cinderella Phenomenon: The Otome Queen, Naja, is back with a full review on this game.  She’s always writing awesome reviews so don’t forget to check her out! She’s already dragged me into Otome Hell and I love her for it. LOL. At some point, I’ll be reviewing games on here too! But Naja is a senpai when it comes to otome and reviews!
  • Ep 13 – Love’s Sorrow: The award for making me cry this week goes to Weekend Otaku and the re-watch of Your Lie in April. I absolutely love this anime-there really are no words to describe how much this anime really hits a chord with me. I’m picking this particular episode because it’s a pivotal point in Kousei Arima’s growth as a musician.

Take Two! April 9-15

Hey guys! I’m trying to get back into the groove of things. I’m actually taking a break from Persona 5 and making some time to blog tonight before I burn out on the game. It’s really addicting because it’s got so many layers. I would write a first impressions review; but if I did that I’d probably stop playing the game after I post it. So I’ve decided to write my first full game review once I finish it. LOL thats why I’ve devoted so much of my time to it. Also, I didn’t forget I have a study schedule; so that’s still also ongoing! Anyways let’s get to it!

I’m going to do something a bit different here. I won’t just link anime related posts. I’m opening this up to gaming, architecture, art, anything I’ve found worthwhile on the internet!

  • Melanin Monday: I’m Black, I Like Anime, and Other Nerdy Things… So What: Naja’s Melanin Monday is an ongoing series I personally love, so I’m glad to see it make it’s April appearance!
  • [Doujinshi] Planet in Love: As we all know, KageHina is probably one of my OTP’s in the realm of ‘shipping. So I was so excited to see Mel feature this DJ! 😀
  • Akira, Japanese (Animated) movie (1988): It’s probably blasphemy to say this, but I haven’t seen Akira, and I probably should see this ASAP. This was a great review for anyone interested!
  • Lethargic Ramble: Why I Don’t Watch Seasonal Anime: Leth always has really great posts, and this one resonated with me a lot just because lately I’ve been struggling with keeping up with waiting week to week. I like to watch anime in chunks or even binge. It was apparent to me that I couldn’t even write episodic reviews because the context sometimes wasn’t enough..or maybe I’m just struggling with how to write episodic reviews…Anyways, this was a great piece! Look it up!!
  • Persona 5 and cultural localization: As someone that’s currently playing Persona 5 and as someone that read the original Kotaku article this was a great response, because I felt indifferent to Kotaku’s take on this, and Tim does a great job of breaking down and helping me understand what the issue that Kotaku was trying to convey but…failed.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

It was kind of SAO week last week here at Archi-Anime, due to the Ordinal Scale release in the US. I kind of enjoy doing the series’ themed week’s just because it’s fun to come up with a variety of things architecture and non-architecturally related.

Wow, I’m a bit impressed with myself. I think that’s the most I’ve ever written in a week!

NENDOROID NEWS:

Now, this is a super new segment. As many of you know, I have a huge passion for collecting nendoroids. Aside from my Nendoroid Nonsense posts,  I’ll be writing about upcoming release’s, pre-orders and ending pre-orders in this section.  It didn’t make sense to write about this separately so I’ve decided to include it in Take Two!

Note: These release dates and ending pre-order dates are based on the information I’ve read from Good Smile. I typically order from Good Smile and from OtakuMode – I have a post in the works regarding tips on buying and etc!

NEWEST RELEASES:

  • As of March so far there have been two releases:
    • Leonardo Watch (Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond):
With Season 2 on the way, they’ve decided to release Leonardo complete withthree faces plates: standard expression, an expression with his eyes open making use of his powers and a crying expression. His last day for pre-order on Good Smile is March 30, 12pm JST.
Optional parts: include his goggles, backpack and camera as well as a hamburger and effect parts for his powers. He also comes with a text plate based on the introduction of his character to display with him, and Sonic Speed Monkey.
    • Nendoroid More: Face Parts Case (Penguin):
This series of Nendoroids were created as fun little pieces to accompany Nendoroids. It basically holds your face plates in one handy container while using one for display

END OF PRE-ORDERS (THIS WEEK):

NENDO-COLLAGE.png

  • MARCH 16, 2017:

Take Two! Feb 26 – March 4

Happy Tuesday Ya’ll! I’ll be changing up this format just a tad bit! Evolution is always awesome isn’t it? Next week I’ll probably start integrating more graphics into this segment! But for now…

Let’s re-cap shall we?

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

  • The Other Self – KnB: With the movie comine in 2 weeks, I wanted to start using KnB songs as a countdown!
  • Broken Bird: Chikara Doumeki: My Yaoi/BL crush was featured last week. I’m just completely obsessed with Twittering Birds Never Fly. I may make my way back to talk about this series at some point.
  • Role Model: Haruhi Fujioka: I brought back WCW and decided to use a classic female that I wish was around for me when I was growing up. I mean I had Sailor Moon but Haruhi was somehow more of a rolemodel I think.
  • [Nendoroid Nonsense]: Tsukki Pays a Visit: I had Tsukki announce a new Nendoroid Nonsense manga was in the works! I’m still in the middle of storyboarding.

A FEW OTHER HOUSEKEEPING ITEMS:

  • “This Week in Anime” – was supposed to be my weekly episodic watch of shows; but I’ve fallen pretty behind on series’ as of late. I want to continue this, but let’s be real it’s hard to keep it up week to week! So I may or may not continue this – or this may also evolve into something else.
  • I have a few reviews coming, an “unboxing” of something really special and an Anime Film Review, SAO: Ordinal Scale and an older one, that I recently watched, so keep an eye out for those!
  • I have a few awards to get thru, so hopefully I can conquer those this week!

OWLS FEBRUARY BLOG TOUR RECAP:

As you know I’ve joined up with the OWLS recently. Here’s a little bit about what we do and a re-cap of our February blog tour! Please check out our Facebook here, our twitter page here, as well as our very own wordpress for tour updates!

white-background-2

We are a group of otaku bloggers who promotes acceptance of all individuals regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion and disability. We emphasize the importance of respect, kindness, and tolerance to every human being.

In February, we looked at Yuri!! on Ice and our interpretation of the prompt “flight”:

Topic: An individual takes flight when there is a goal, a dream, or an ambition that he or she wants to achieve. However, for this blog post, we are going to look at “flight” in different lenses: the underdog’s dream, the possibilities that Yuri on Ice allows viewers to think about, and also the dangers of greed and ignorance that can influence one’s dream.

2/3: A Yuri on Ice Dream: Love is Love, Gay or Not by Arria Cross (Fujinsei)

and Cut! That does it for this week’s take two! If you’ve found something of interest for me to read feel free to send it my way! If you’ve read any of the above, I’d love to hear your thoughts! And always, thanks for tuning in this week! ❤

Take Two! Feb 19 – 25

Happy Tuesday!! I hope all of your Monday Blues’ have dissipated by now.

Let’s recap!

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

  • 100th Post Hiatus: I celebrated my 100th post with a nendoroid feature, with Kageyama Tobio as my host. He, alongside a few more characters got me a lot of feedback and inspiration for new content on this blog!
  • Kicking off the Week with some Slow Rock: I featured the ED from my favorite Comedy/Slice of Life: Barakamon.
  • Master Calligrapher: Handa Sei: MCM featured the protagonist of Barakamon. I figured the ED would be a huge hint.
  • [NENDOROID NOOK]: A New Challenger Appears!: I  kicked off Nendoroid Nook this week when a new nendoroid appeared on my doorstep! I’ve come to the conclusion that the best way for me to showcase my lovely collection is to create a manga starring them in their various situations! 🙂
  • Viktor’s Leap of Faith – [OWLS Blog Tour]: I joined up OWLS recently and am proud to annouce this as my first Blog tour! An analysis of Viktor in Yuri!! on Ice!

A FEW OTHER NOTES:

  • WCW is still on hiatus I’m sorry! I’ll get back to it. These take more time than my MCM’s because they’re not just eye candy!
  • ANi-Reality and Fantasy Friday are also backlogged but don’t fret content will be coming soon!
