This is a confession of a Team Mom. It’s not really fact, but I think one could be found in any group. As someone that’s temporarily taken our lovely Arria’s spot as schedule coordinator for OWLs for the time being, and as a member of the Innominate Anime Podcast Group, I can relate to this week’s MCM. I equate myself to Makoto Tachibana, another team mom, and I absolutely love today’s MCM. My affinity for the team mom type/trope is becoming quite clear.
I’ve been submersed in playing Final Fantasy XV as of late, you can find all my tweets using the hashtag #ZelsFFXVRoadTrip. All the boys have grown on me over the course of time I’ve spent in-game (I’m at about 40 hours into it). I’m still trying to get through as many of the sidequests as I can before I set sail for Altissia, and I thought what better way to bring back MCM but to spend the next couple of weeks focusing on the boys of FFXV. The order in which they appear is not akin to favoritism necessarily, but I have to kick off this venture with the FFXV Team Mom: Ignis Scientia.
If you haven’t watched the short anime about the characters of FFXV, you can find Ignis’ episode here: BROTHERHOOD FINAL FANTASY XV Episode 4 – Bittersweet Memories. It goes into a bit of the background story of Noctis and Ignis prior to the events of the storyline in the FFXV video game.
Jack of All Trades
Ignis is a close friend of the crown prince alongside Gladiolus and prompto. But aside from being a companion, he also serves on the crownsguard. He is also an advisor of the royal family, and on the roadtrip he serves as the driver and as the groups Chef. On top of that he is a skilled fighter as he does really well with daggers and a javelin/polearm. Ignis does a lot for the group, and can just about do it all. Get a man like Ignis. lol.
Megane
Let’s address the quasi elephant in the room. Megane characters always automatically get extra points in my world (this is also a shout out to Naja who equally, if not more will agree). Not only is Ignis a bespectacled beauty, but he has such a great accent to pair with it.
Keeps the Ship Running
The most important trait of Ignis and ultimately my favorite thing that’s relateable about him is that he keeps things running in the background. Like most Team Moms, they keep things running smoothly in the group. Observing and taking notes of those around them in an effort to keep a positive environment for everyone to thrive. Ignis is always watching his companions, and as you travel and he continues to learn to create new dishes, his meals actually boost your stats the next day. He also takes note of which dishes are a particular character’s favorite foods which also boosts their performance in battle. As a fellow team observer, I can relate. Not just because of my online groups but my in real life group of friends too. I like to check-in individually if something seems off or their behavior seems to have changed a little bit.
What do you guys think of Ignis? Have you played Final Fantasy XV? Hope you’re looking forward to see more of these bros! I know I am! 🙂
Really this is your first FFXV guy? Not my adorable carb concsious Prompto?

LOL Irina, it was really tough, I also love the adorable carb-conscious Prompto, but I had to go with my fellow team mom compatriot for the first one.

Yes I play this game when I get the chance. I love everything about it. Ignis is a man I care about. I care about the Bros so much than Lunafreya 😅. I need to go back to the anime. I love the anime.
